Role Overview

This role requires at least four years of recent mortgage loan processing experience; we ask that applicants meet this requirement before applying. You will process and pre-underwrite Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans to ensure compliance with company, secondary-market investor, and government-agency standards.

You will act as the liaison between the loan officer, borrower, and underwriters, monitoring the overall processing cycle so loans close on time and resolving issues that could delay closing.

Key Responsibilities

1Monitor the overall lending process and identify, resolve, and communicate issues that could impact timely closing.
2Analyze ratios, credit, applications, income and assets, and sources of down payment funds, and review documentation for potential fraud or misrepresentation.
3Order and review third-party documentation, including credit, title, appraisals, tax returns, and verifications of employment and assets.
4Verify accuracy of AUS findings and program applicability, and submit complete, compliant files to underwriting.
5Clear underwriting conditions and prepare files for closing, keeping loan officers and borrowers updated throughout.

Required Qualifications

Four or more years of recent experience as a mortgage loan processor.
Working knowledge of mortgage lending processes and controls, plus federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and document-retention programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience processing Conventional, VA, FHA, and USDA loans.
Hands-on experience with Encompass.

Skills & Competencies

Sound judgment and critical thinking, with the ability to anticipate downstream impact and risk.
Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment with a strong sense of urgency.
Excellent customer service and communication skills; highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Comfortable working in Salesforce (our CRM) and Encompass by ICE Mortgage Technology (our loan origination platform); prior hands-on experience with either is a plus, and we train the right person.
Comfortable using modern AI tools to work more efficiently - for example, drafting and paraphrasing emails, summarizing documents, and sharpening written communication - while always handling client and company information securely.
Collaborative and solutions-oriented, with a habit of picking up the phone to resolve issues directly across sales, processing, underwriting, and closing.
